Kayalpatnam.com>Congratulations on scoring 1180 out of 1200 in the public examinations. Were you
surprised when you heard the results or were you expecting it?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>Thanks a lot for praising me and my parents. All praises go to Almighty Allah. I expected around 1189, but my inner feeling/thoughts told me that it would stop before 1180. While hearing the result from my father over phone, I was in a state of surprise. More than me - my parents (were surprised). I was blessed to be with my parents when the results came. We all (our family members) remembered our beloved Grand Father Marhoom Haji K.M. Ismet (who was the one who always encouraged us to aim for the State Level). Tears rolled down our cheeks - while we enjoyed the great success.
Kayalpatnam.com>You had studied in the UAE - till your 10th standard. Tell us about that.
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>My dad and mom have settled in Abu Dhabi before my birth. I was brought up there from my childhood. My elder brother Master Ismet Noufal and I did our schooling - from KG to 10th Standard - in Our Own English High School in Abu Dhabi. My younger brother Master Wasfi (brilliant than I am) is now studying 7th standard there. I got 439 out 500 (88%) in the 10th standard CBSE board exam
Kayalpatnam.com>How did you join Vidya Vikas Hr. Sec. School in Namakkal for your 11th standard?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>About 3 years back, on just seeing this school's advertisement in one of our Tamil daily papers, Uncle Mr.Mehar Ali (Master Ashfaq's father) was interested. So he admitted his nephew Master Jabir Ahmed in this school. On seeing his superb performance in his first year, Mr.Mehar Ali became even more interested and decided to put his son in that shcool. He was also adamant in putting me also in that school. Same time, my father also had the interest. So they enrolled me in that School (though I did not write the entrance exam for admission, school granted seat for me). Even I was more interested in joining a school like that - where they give utmost priority to studies and sports as well.
Kayalpatnam.com>To what would you attribute your stupendous performance in the public examination?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>The first person who would be proud of my performance is my grand father Late Haji K.M.Ismet, B.Sc (but Allah's Kadir, we missed him). And then my father Mr.I.Imtiaz Ahmed and my mother Mrs. Nafeesath Thahira. Then it goes to my Principal, teachers, relatives and all those who had prayed for me to achieve such a feat.
Kayalpatnam.com>What role did your school and the teachers play in your success?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>My teachers were more dedicated, always pushing me into studies, staying till late night and even our Principal (who is a lady) used to be there in the study hall with us till 11 in the night during the board exams.
Kayalpatnam.com>Tell us about your experience in Vidya Vikas. What is special about it?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>Those 2 years in Vidya Vikas is what you call real experience. We had nice fun even in those hectic schedules. We had all those hostel experience where one has to stand in a queue for each and everything. But during our exams, books were our only companions.
Kayalpatnam.com>Even though you haven't studied in any of the schools in Kayalpatnam, you would be
having some knowledge about the standards in our schools. What - according to you - is missing with Kayalpatnam schools and students?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>I just don't know anything much about the schools here. But I am aware of the fact that each and every year, the highest mark in Kayalpatnam was limited to within 1140. We have very talented students here (Almighty Allah has blessed our native town in many overall aspects such as in culture, prosperity, intelligence and our motherhoods dignity - when compared with others). The only problem here is we lack the skill to extract the inborn talent/quality from the students.
Kayalpatnam.com>Do you believe students these days are easily diverted? How did you stay focussed
on your studies?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>Yes, students are easily diverted in many ways. I am not that special. Prayer time, I pray, study time, I study, play time, I play and rest time, I took enough rest. I was fully focussed on my studies - as we did not have TV, Computers, Mobile Phone or any other facility that would divert us from studies.
Kayalpatnam.com>For how many hours per day did you study? Did you have time to pursue extra-
curricular activities (like sports etc)?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>We have specific study hours (about 5 hours during normal times; it goes upto 12 hours during exam times). I utilised them completely. Some students studied even after 11 pm, but I believe that overnight studies will not help us in anyway (additionally). Yes, I had plenty of time for other activities. I am a football player, I was in the school team as a main stopper and we were the district champions. In fact I am proud to say that I am a district player! I play basketball, cricket and table tennis during my free time.
I am very much interested in Sports. I have got lot of medals, cups and certificate in religious events, quiz, sports and athletics. In our Abu Dhabi Flat Hall Wall-unit, there are many such things (medals etc) exhibited - received by all 3 brothers.
Kayalpatnam.com>What next? Is MBBS going to be your choice?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>Insha Allah, if Allah wishes, I am planning to go to IIT. Otherwise, my next choice is medicine in MMC or SMC. Or else, I would like to do engineering in National University of Singapore. With the guidance of my cousin brother Master Buhary Shajahan, I have already appeared in the entrance exam. The cut off mark required for that is 1156.
Kayalpatnam.com>You should be able to enter any top medical college in Tamil Nadu with your
high marks. If I remember correctly, you will be one of the first persons from
Kayalpatnam (along with Ashfaq) to enter a medical college on Merit. How does
that feel?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>I feel good that I have achieved something great. It sounds nice when people say you are the best student of Kayalpatnam and I feel proud of that
Kayalpatnam.com>Is there any person or persons you would like to thank for your success?
Mr.I.A.Nasiq Hasan>Yes, first and foremost, I would like to thank my grandfather Late Haji K.M.Ismet. My dad used to say I too should achieve something big like my cousin brother Master Buhary Shajahan (My father's elder brother Mr.Shajahan's son). He has just completed his final year engineering in National University of Singapore.
Last but not the least, I thank Allah for answering all my prayers - my parents and family members', particularly my grand mother's prayers.
In this juncture, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Kayalpatnam.com, Mr.SKS of daruttibyan, Mr.Buhary of Ceylon House, Master computer, Thina Thanthy daily paper and all well wishers.
