What decides whether a student joins a good college or an average college is sometimes a few marks obtained in the public examination. In order to motivate the students to aim higher and score good marks in the public examinations, it was announced during the Meet the State Toppers event in 2007 - that students scoring above 1150 (a Kayalpatnam record at that time) or student getting a state rank (in terms of overall total) in the Plus Two public exams - would be given attractive awards. It was also announced the awards would be jointly sponsored by various Kayal organisations - overseas as well as working in India.

In 2009, A.M.S. Ismath of LK Higher Secondary School scored 1164 in the public examination and set a new Kayalpatnam record. He was given Rs.75,000/- at a public function, jointly by several Kayal Welfare Organisations - based in India and overseas.

Consequently - to be eligible to win the award of Rs.75,000/- - a student now has to score 1165 or above.

1. Why was 1150 chosen? (It is 1164 now)
   
   1150 was the highest mark scored by a student of Kayalpatnam studying in Kayalpatnam schools - till 2009. The purpose of this award was to motivate the current students to aim higher than that.
   
   In 2009, this mark was exceeded by A.M.S. Ismath of LK Higher Secondary School, who scored 1164 in the public examination and set a new Kayalpatnam record
   
   Consequently - to be eligible to win the award of Rs.75,000/- now onwards- a student has to score 1165 or above.
   
   
2. How about the state rank award?
   
   A cash award of Rs.1,50,000/- has been announced for students of Kayalpatnam schools achieving 1st, 2nd or 3rd rank at the State Level
   
   
3. Who will sponsor the prizes?
   
   Various Kayal organisations and individuals are requested to share the prize amount expenditure
   
   
4. How much burden will fall on individual organisations?
   
   Assuming a total of 10 organisations and individuals come forward to sponsor these prizes, the expense of each organisation would be Rs.7,500 (in case of above 1164) to Rs.15,000 (in case of State Rank). More the number of organisations, lesser the burden on each organisation
   
   
5. Who is co-ordinating this award related activities?
   
   Iqra Educational Society is co-ordinating the efforts surrounding this award.
   
   
6. Should willing sponsors send the money in advance to Iqra?
   
   No, just a consent letter or email will be sufficient. The sponsoring amount can be arranged after the awardee is identified

   Students of 6 Kayalpatnam-based schools only (Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Zubaida Girls Higher Secondary School, LK Higher Secondary School, Central Higher Secondary, Muhyideen Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Central Matriculation Higher Secondary Schools)
