Once the gauge conversion work between Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur is completed, does
Southern Railway have any plans to operate long-distance trains from Chennai (and
other cities) up to Tiruchendur?
At present, there is no proposal to run long distance trains from Chennai or
from other cities to Tiruchendur due to lack of terminal facilities
What stations between Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur - currently undergoing gauge conversion
are being given the facilities (example: platform length) to allow stopping of long-distance
trains (not passenger trains)?
Adequate length of platform for stopping passenger trains are proposed to be provided at all
stations in Tirunelveli-Tiruchendur section.
[Administrator: Question related to long-distance trains, but the reply talks about passenger
trains. This is being followed up]
On what basis where the stations - listed as reply to Question No.2 - selected?
The stations have been identified based on the traffic offering in Metre Gauge.
