KSWA – An Introduction
Kayal Students
Welfare Association (KSWA) was established in Hong Kong in January – 1998 with
the following aim.
The main aim of
KSWA is to help Kayalpatnam Muslim Students, studying in Kayalpatnam, whose
family cannot afford to provide education after schooling to join a professional
course / technical course, who have obtained admission to these courses on the
basis of merit.
The Association
consists of 19 Executive Committee Members and 101 members in Hong Kong. All
members pay a min. subscription fee of HK$700 per year. The Management and
Principals of the Three Boys’s schools in Kayalpatnam are the active advisors of
KSWA. No recommendations from sources other than the Management and Principals
of the schools will be considered or entertained by KSWA. The Students are
being selected strictly on the basis of merit irrespective of factions, schools
and areas.
The Students
sponsored by KSWA should come into an agreement with the Association, by which
he is liable to support eh Association financially by returning the amount he
has obtained from the Association after he gets a job. This is totally interest
free. He will also be liable to render service to the Association by virtue of
his future position in the society after he is well established in a good job.
The Sponsorship
of KSWA for each student consists of the full course fee, including tuition,
examination, hostel and mess fees throughout the duration of the course,
relieving the family financially hassle free. During the course, the student
must send the semester examination results and fee receipts for our record.
Currently, KSWA
is sponsoring six Students (Five B.E. and one B.Pharm.,) and has successfully
sponsored thirteen students (one M.E., Ten B.E., one B.Arch., and one B.D.S.).
It is with pride that we can proclaim these students have excellent academic
records in their respective Colleges. And most of the past students have settled
in good jobs and have completed repaid or in the process of repaying the amount
spent for their education.
It was a great
blow to the Association when its Founder Katheeb S.A Hameed passed away
(Inna-lillahi wa inna ilaihi raajioon) on 16-12-2001 (30th Day of
Ramadhan 1422). However the members have vowed to continuously run the
Association and achieve the motives held by him, including the aim to help
students in joining Indian Civil Services (IAS, IPS, IFS, etc) among other
things.
The “Marhoom
Hameed Annual Award” (Rs. 5000 cash Prize and Shield), in memory of Marhoom
Hameed, is being presented every year to the students who score the top total
marks in Higher Secondary Examination (+2) among the four schools within the
Kayalpatnam locality.
