Health of Kayalites!! posted bySalai.Mohamed Mohideen (California)[04 January 2011] IP: 76.*.*.* United States | Comment Reference Number: 2005
Tobacco free kayal is a good thought & its possible if smokers determined to give it up. I think as per our law, smoking is prohibited in public places(revoked??). Incase if it is not, either municipality or Aikkiya peravai can declare (thru polite request) some public places in kayal (say schools, madarasas, bus stands etc) as 'Smoke free' zone. Some people will not mind it initially but over the period of time it will be complied. Also creating awareness on smoking will help esp. the victims of the smoking can come forward.
Setting up a dedicated team for health care also a another wonderful idea but as suggested below, instead of giving birth to new org/association probably we can try to sync up with an existing one (i.e. Kayal Healthcare Survey & awareness team) which is led by DR.Ali Raza MD from US in coordination with NAKWA, KFT & so on. We can expand this team by bringing all kayalite doctors and one representative from each KWA. Efforts are already underway for this survey. The results of the study/survey will be made available to the public so that everyone can understand the challenges and problems that our community is facing about health care. Also the survey results will help us to focus on future efforts to be undertaken to help the health of our town.
Br.AWS point making sense. Definitely we need one KWA in Kayal itself & I feel we are running short of volunteers (other than Bros SKS, Tharvesh of IQRA) who can help overseas KWA's to execute their projects. Unfortunately its very sad to hear that, even Aikiya peravai doesn't have young bloods (volunteers) and mainly aged people taking care of everything. Whenever an organization/assoc. is lack of young people, its difficult to survive or run succesfully. Probably, some likely minded people like AWS can forward by bringing youngsters, college students etc
Am very happy to see KWA - Jeddah (pioneer in KWA's across the world) executive team... its all familiar faces to me now. I got reminded of my day with this energetic Jeddah exec. team & missing the wonderful briyani offered by Br. Shameem during my presence in their exec. meeting couple of years back.
