One-way to bring relief
Residents of Kayalpatnam can heave a sigh of relief soon since Big Weaver Street, a stretch of road that witnesses traffic snarl, is to be made a one-way.
Municipal Chairman I. Abeedha said that Collector Ashish Kumar inspected the spot recently and passed an order to this effect. Kayalpatnam, a second-grade municipality, has a population of 40,512. The Collector said here on Sunday that measures would be taken for the smooth flow of vehicular traffic. The residents could also avail additional bus facilities since buses from Tuticorin and Tirunelveli could get easy access to the street, he said.
Residents of the Big Weaver Street were against the proposal to make it one-way. Only after the Collector made an inspection that the plan could be approved at last. Former municipal chairman Wavoo. Seyed Abdur Rehman said that a majority of the people in the town had expressed their wish for making the street one-way.
