Judiciary in Saudi posted byM.M. Seyed Ibrahim (Chennai)[26 January 2013] IP: 122.*.*.* India | Comment Reference Number: 25228
Assalamu Alaikum
I pray that Allaah forgive the sins of Sr. Risaana & elevate her status. I am restricting my comments only to the Judiciary of Saudi. I wanted to mention two points
1) Education & Training of the Judges
2) Independence of the Judiciary
Br. M.N.L Rafeeq has already mentioned example for how independent they are. Let me just say that they are fully independent.
Most of us don't have ideas about the educational systems in Islamic Universities (esp. the Saudi ones). I am doing Bachelors in Islamic Studies (Usool al-Deen). After eight semesters, we have to submit a Thesis (Yes, a research paper even at Bachelor's degree level)
The Master's degree in Islamic Universities is NOT a two-year degree. It is more. And the Master's thesis (say, 40,000 words) is comparable to Ph.D in Indian Universities. One of my non-Saudi teachers had to work (intern) with the Saudi Judges as part of his thesis on Jurisprudence matters related to commercial papers.
In Summary, i just want to say that the judges in Saudi courts are well-educated and are independent.
