Assalamu alaikum,
We have received suggestions through email, phone and comments page to remove the interview with Mr.Kassali Maricar (Vice Chairman, Kayalpattinam Municipality) from the homepage.
Though we understand the sentiments behind such a request, we would like to point out interviews are published with people who have achieved recognition in their fields (education, sports etc), prominent personalities (social work, politics etc) as well as people in public jobs (government, municipality).
Interview with Mr.Kassali was published in January following the announcement of the procedure to raise funds for new water scheme. We had reservations about the method that was announced (temporary receipts through Aikiya Peravai, lifelong validity of the receipt issued to get connection, the opportunity to misuse those receipts etc) and those were highlighted in the interview.
The interview - thus - was not in honour of a person who had achieved excellence in public life, but with a senior official of the Municipality on a very important project for the town.
Once again we would like to reiterate we understand the sentiments behind such a request, but we feel such an action is not the logical thing to do.
We are in the process of getting interviews with headmasters and headmistresses of kayalpatnam schools (an annual exercise before public exams) and they would be published within couple of days.
