Dear Bros.mohideen thamby, mohamed mohideen and mohamed yoonus,
Assalamu alaikum,
Kayalpatnam.com's Comments page is transparent. At every stage, number of comments received, number of comments pending, number of comments rejected, number of comments approved are on display.
In addition, we also display the person's name, email address and ip address - so that people will know there is nothing behind the scenes, it is not the same person posting in different names etc.
For obvious reasons, the content of comments we reject cannot be disclosed openly - since that will defeat the purpose of censoring. However, please note, on every issue, we have always allowed ALL POINTS OF VIEW.
We reject comments for many reasons. I will list a few:
(a) Dummy email Ids
(b) Same message posted twice
(c) Same person posting in different names
(d) Comment not related to news
(e) Personal attacks
(f) Unverifiable claims
(g) Unsuitable for other reasons (violent, abusive etc)
This is not the complete set of reasons. There are others too.
Over the years, Kayalpatnam.com has improved its transparency. When we introduced Comments page, the allegation was Kayalpatnam.com doesn't approve certain comments. We then introduced pending and rejected status. Now, we are getting complaints that we are not approving comments that are against our policy/opinions - which is totally untrue.
We do not like censoring. It increases our work. Some people have personally told us they hate to see red texts in their comments. We also do not like that. However, when we let some comment through, we are accused of allowing attacks and when we restrict certain comments, we are accused of censoring! We understand this is the nature of Internet and we are fully equipped for that.
We are humans, we do make mistakes sometimes. We can be sure on certain things only to a limited extent. When pointed out, we have improved our systems and introduced more transparency. We have no hassles about apologising if it indeed is our mistake.
Kayalpatnam.com is run in a professional manner - with experienced Editorial Board. Rest assured, when we reject a comment, it is for the above stated reasons only.
Insha Allah, soon you will see more changes to comments section. The following are some:
(a) Once a person posts a comment, a Comment Serial Number would be displayed - which would act as a reference number, so that - if he/she has an issue (why rejected etc), he can always query us - using that reference number.
(b) We will also introduce a system - where users can click on rejected comments and see the reasons why each of the comment was rejected with the author's name, city etc.
