Town Council meeting.
I attended the Kayal Town Council meeting on 30/08/2012. There is no word to describe the hooliganism taken place there. Despite of efforts from overseas well-wishers, a large segment deliberately walked out on flimsy reasons. It was understood their intention was to disrupt and disturb the meeting.
Language used there was derogatory. A member linked overseas Kayalites and internet provider with the lady president in a defaming manner which provoked anger from the observers that almost led to a scuffle.
So many unnecessary questions were raised, leaving the much needed topic of shortage of water supply, power etc. The roads are littered with dirt and garbage is scattered all over. During my three week stay, I may say, our road was never swept. Poor plight of the town.
The Town Council should function at any cost. People's representative must realize that they are subject to some rules that govern their behavior. If the Council is not allowed to function , why should the members be paid their salary? No work no pay rule should apply to them too.
I suggest the overseas Kayalites must take some interest to correct the situation. Otherwise the town will be doomed.
