1. SELECTION OF MOST KAYAL PERSON OF THE YEAR 2010 posted byMOHIDEEN ABDUL KADER (ABUDHABI)[27 December 2010] IP: 195.*.*.* United Arab Emirates | Comment Reference Number: 1831
ASSALAMU ALAIKKUM.VARAH.
This is one of your good steps to the form of original kayal and it will be more intresting and competetive action on social works among all kayalite in future.
I request you to consider the selection of some [examble 5 or 10] short listed people thru IQRA even they marhoom and get vote from all kayalite local and abroad from these selected people to get award.
These people are achieved by EDUCATION, SOCIAL & Humanitarian like our kayal Town president JANAB. HAJI WAVOO SAYED ABDUL RAHMAN, medical etc.
4. Competition Unhealthy...? posted byShameemul Islam SKS (Chennai)[27 December 2010] IP: 122.*.*.* India | Comment Reference Number: 1834
Please admit me for things i say relating to this.
I think this will spark some controversy among ourselves and not at all confirming to my understanding of Qur'an.
Allah says " Inna Akramakum 'Indhallaahi Atqaakum" meaning 'Verily the best among you near Allah is the one who is the most fearful (God conscious) among you' (Qur'an 49 :13).
So let there be no selection based on the best amon the Kayalites.
Also i strongly fear that these are the unhealthy competitions and creation of the west.
6. Please avoid this posted byHusain Noorudeen (Abu Dhabi)[27 December 2010] IP: 195.*.*.* United Arab Emirates | Comment Reference Number: 1836
I too consider this is an unwanted exercise, which would only serve to split the people. Now only we are cementing our bonds, or at least trying to, though people have different beliefs and ideologies. Let us not spoil our effort to unite the Kayal communities by selecting a person from one ideology for some reason and ignoring other, could be even for valid reasons. But, people following other ideologies will not be able to digest it for various reasons.
So, let us not ignite another fire that could deepen the division between ourselves.
7. Consider another format posted byHusain Noorudeen (Abu Dhabi)[27 December 2010] IP: 195.*.*.* United Arab Emirates | Comment Reference Number: 1837
Following my earlier post, if such a selection of a role model is to be conducted and approved by majority of people, then we may consider another healthy format to implement this.
Rather than keeping the selection criteria open, let us list out some areas and select those who excelled in those areas and performed in an outstanding way. By doing this, we can avoid differences arising between people with different ideologies and bring everyone on a common platform.
8. Criteria posted byAdministrator (Chennai)[27 December 2010] IP: 122.*.*.* India | Comment Reference Number: 1838
Assalamu alaikum,
The objective behind the effort is to recognise people who are making a difference to Kayalpatnam through their positive actions - men, women and the young. The people we hope to identify would be role-models Insha Allah.
We understand the reservations expressed here. We will be extremely careful when fixing the criteria. Though we havent arrived at a methodology yet, I think I can safely say - the announcements will not be (solely atleast) based on Internet Poll.

12. most wanted! posted byhasbullah (dubai)[28 December 2010] IP: 86.*.*.* United Arab Emirates | Comment Reference Number: 1851
dear brothers
i suggest u to give best place in kayal those who are taken more steps to get drinking water
in our town & work hard for all such activities.
after named, more controversy between kayalites whose understand well or against with him..
student (girl or boys) level selection is ok
who works for social activities.....
or high score student..
for this world we have to identify the good person depends on good activities from them which public recognizes, Allah's decision is final for who is best person between us. and thats should only know in aakirath..depends upon niyyath for their social activities.
13. Methodology posted byAdministrator (Chennai)[28 December 2010] IP: 122.*.*.* India | Comment Reference Number: 1858
Assalamu alaikum,
We wish to clarify on some of the aspects of the announcement.
First of all, it won't be a popularity contest. We are aware that will lead to unnecessary heartburns. So - this wont depend on Internet poll or any other polling at all.
Secondly, the persons we intend to identify should be/will be - Insha Allah - such that everyone will understand and appreciate, he/she deserves it.
Thirdly, it would be a diverse category of people we would be seeking.
I will illustrate with some imaginary examples:
(1) It could be a teacher, who apart from doing his 9 to 5 job, goes beyond that and takes extra care of students (like visiting houses to ensure student attends class regularly, or talks to parents - advising them how to manage their children)
(2) It could be a councillor, who is honest, all that he/she earns from Municipality is that 500 rupees he/she gets for attending municipality meetings, goes that extra step to take care of his ward's voters (helping them for example in resolving property tax issues, water connection issues etc)
(3) It could be a student, who not only performs exceedingly well in academics, but is good in religious studies (like being a hafil), probably excels in sports, does something extra to his neighbours/family and so on
It could be many more stories like this. The idea is - we would like to identify people who go that extra little step to make a difference to lives of dozens of others.
There was a story about a bihar muslim boy, from poor background, only person from the town to attend school, travels miles to attend school, then comes back to his hometown to teach others. We will be looking for those kinds of inspiring stories from Kayalpatnam.
It is absolutely an innovative idea to recognize the most excellent personality of Kayal but all together it’s a toughest task in front of the selection committee to find out a capable individual who should meet the entire required criterion if selection is based on general observable facts. For example, if the award shall be honored to a social activist, the recipient might be deficient in education, religion, communal awareness etc. Then it should not be called as “Person / Kayalite of the Year”.
Hence it is appropriate to categorize the award selection for special role in different aspects as listed below taking into account of some criteria in that exclusive area:
Academic Award
Key Measurement:
• Notable appearance in the public exams
• Achievement in research (Phd)/ Higher Studies
• Career frontrunner.
Religious Service Achievement Award:
Key Measurement:
• Hafidh who has memorized Holy Quran in his
young age.
• Emergence to public appreciation through his
aptitude (like today, one Hafidh got the
chance to participate in the International
level Qur’an memorization competition in
Makkah).
• Alims’ prominent activity that inspired unity
of our Kayal Community not showing flexibility
in religion.
• Exposed one’s talent in Hadhees translation or
authentic Islamic History Books widely
available in Arabic but yet not reachable to
our hands.
Award for Social Activities / Extra Curricular activities:
Key Measurement:
• For service excellence considering only the
welfare of our Kayal and no favoritism is
shown to anyone, it is applicable from
counselor to town president.
• Bravely activities
• Sport achievement.
• Achievement through Local / Abroad social
welfare organizations.
* No gender variation for Eligible award recipient / Expatriate students to be included.
This is just my suggestion within my limited thinking, Many valuable proposals and ideas from fellow Kayalites are coming up to enhance this. By observing the all the assorted ideas, the administrator and his team could take a sensible decision to move ahead this great initiative.
May Allah accept and reward you for your great deeds.

Guys,
However good & accurate the selection might be,what I feel in this kinda selection is going to make people nuts. Given the vast differences in beliefs & the different lifestyles we have in our small town, it is going to be an unacceptable thing for the other sect of people.
Hence I feel that this is totally unwarranted for. To select an individual or two in a town without a benchmark will definitely be cumbersome. Instead as a few brothers have wrote, let us go for some prize scheme for the more learned in terms of religious topics as nowadays it seems that sector looks like a neglected lot.
18. UNWANTED\\UNHEALTHY\\MISLEADED COMPETITION posted bySAM ABDUL BASITH.S.A.K. (Tuticorin)[28 December 2010] IP: 122.*.*.* India | Comment Reference Number: 1875
I storngly accept the comments 4,6,11,14 and 17.
This is unhealthy competion.the money to be sent for this competition can be used to eradicate some misunderstandings about a pure religion ISLAM in our home town itself.
Also this type of competiotions are not take part in our prophet life. Otherwise simlar to WESTERN PEOPLE as brother sameem said (comment No:4).
I hope this competition will be cancelled. Insha allah.

Dear All,
This will create another controversy in the town. Hope we are doing some improvements for the welfare of the kayal people and this kind of acts will be a hindrance to the current schemes.
Definitely there will be criticism for the selected people and will lead to uncomfortable situation.
I would agree to the points mentioned by Br. Abdul Wadood (Jaipur).

After seeing the long list of comments and the interest kayalites are taking in this subject, first of all I would request admin to move this to the discussion board to continue before it disappears into the pervious month news and a few others miss the opportunity to read public opinion.
It is good to see the energy among brothers in maintaining a healthy arguments and airing their opinion with no hatred (hoping the admin has approved all of them).
I always had a doubt about the reach of the efforts and concerns discussed in kayalpatnam.com inside kayalpatnam and even attempted to post this in the discussion board (with no takers though).
Ref: http://www.kayalpatnam.com/expandboard.asp?pid=1189&mid=0
This arguments and the counters so far had been from outside (the nearest is Tuticorin) and none from kayalpatnam. We need to find ways to include the local opinions – a quick survey locally would bring in more options and concerns.
I would insist caution on choosing categories;
Making it more generic like Best in Man / Woman etc... will create complexity and controversy. Instead making it specific like excelling in Education, Social Awareness, Philanthropy towards social cause, Environmental sustainability, etc… will make is more measurable and distinct.
I’m of the opinion that, appreciating the fact someone is good is not against ISLAM and we have better examples in this respect and acceptance of this from Prophet (PBUH).
To substantiate what Bro. Shameem quoted from Quran, " Inna Akramakum 'Indhallaahi Atqaakum"., we need to understand that as humans, all we can appreciate is someone’s demonstration and believe all intentions for this achievement will be paid by Allah on the day of judgment.
