Yet the 2nd major expansion of Aljami al-Azhar after first expansion was carried out 4 decades ago by our leaders.

This massive expansion work has been necessitated with the growing population among liberal & progressive Muslims of Kayalpatnam.

It may be recalled that Azhar was established when the leaders experienced challenge and threat to the ethos of liberal and progressive ideas among the Kayalites in fifties.

Hope and pray that Azhar will upholds these ideas with its presence in this society and hope all the Kayalites who strive for this objective will support this noble cause and make Azhar relevance to all the time.

Alhamdu lillah. The work has started at extention of Al Jami ul Azhar. The work may be completed at the earliest and the people of Kayalpatnam will use it without any deviations.

Glad to hear the expansion. Now, the need would be money & supplications. There is a tendency among us that only the rich business men should pay several thousands, or lakhs to construct / expand the Masjid. This is a WRONG IDEA.

I recently attended a get-together of representatives of muslim social organizations. We had a couple of students from MEASI academy. All other speakers explained (including me) were talking about school-fees, medical help, Masjid construction, borewell in Bihar, Bayaans for women etc, this student came up and explained their SINGLE activity.

The activity is: COLLECT Rs.10/Week from the students of the Measi (Architecture) Academy & New College. His calculation: There are 5000 students in the campus. If each one contribute Rs. 10, Weekly collection would be Rs. 50,000. Monthly it'd be 2,00,000 or 2,50,000. They give the money as Charity the same week. He said they have a ZERO-BALANCE policy.

This is YOUR MASJID, MY MASJID & ofcourse Rich people's Masjid. If you are a student, a jobless youth, or a poor person, can't you pay Rs. 5 (FIVE RUPEES - less than the cost of a tea & Vadai) every week to this Masjid. Every time you go to this Masjid, you are using the Water, benefitting from the Fan, the tube light is ON so you can pray or read Qur'aan - basically YOU ARE USING SOMEBODY'S MONEY.

Let's Insha Allaah contribute some amount. If 2000 people pray there, and if EVERYONE pays Rs. 10, it'll be Rs. 20,000 / Week. STOP depending on a few people for everything. ISLAM ISN'T JUST FOR THE RICH. We know the Companions contributed according to their capacity.

Those in Kayal should make it a habit to pay a small amount EVERY WEEK. Don't PLAN to donate a big amount in the future - there is no guarantee we will be alive in the future.
