காயல்பட்டினம் நகராட்சி 07ஆம் வார்டு கற்புடையார் பள்ளி வட்டம் பகுதியில் (சிங்கித்துறை) கடல் பரப்பிலிருந்து 500 மீட்டருக்கு உட்பட்ட புறம்போக்கு மற்றும் தனியார் நிலங்களில், பல குடியிருப்பு கட்டிடங்கள் கட்டும் பணி அசுர வேகத்தில் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது.

காயல்பட்டினம் கீழ நெய்னார் தெருவில், கோஸ்மரை தர்காவின் அமைவிடத்திலிருந்து சுமார் 50 அடி இடைவெளியில் கட்டப்பட்டு வரும் இக்குடியிருப்பு கட்டிடங்களைக் கட்டுவதற்கு நகராட்சியிடமிருந்து எவ்வித அனுமதியும் பெறப்படவில்லை என கூறப்படுகிறது.

மேலும், நகர் ஊரமைப்புத் துறை மற்றும் சுற்றுச் சூழல் துறை போன்ற அலுவலகங்களில் எவ்வித அனுமதியும் பெறப்படாமல் இக்கட்டிடப்பணி நடைபெற்று வருகிறது என கூறப்படுகிறது. .

கடந்த சில மாதங்களாக நடைபெற்று வரும் இக்கட்டிடப் பணிகள் குறித்த விபரங்களை சேகரிப்பதற்காக, 26.10.2010 அன்று அப்பகுதிக்குச் சென்று, கட்டிடப் பணியை மேற்பார்வை செய்துகொண்டிருந்த அலுவலர்களிடம் விபரம் கேட்டோம்.

துவக்கத்திலிருந்தே கோபமாகவும், ஒளிவு மறைவாகவும் பேசிய அவர், கட்டிடப்பணிகள் குறித்து யாருக்கும், எவ்வித பேட்டியும் தருவதற்கு தனக்கு அனுமதி கிடையாது என்று தெரிவித்தார். பின்னர், கண்ணில் பட்டதையும், கையில் கிடைத்த விபரங்களையும் மட்டும் சேகரித்தவாறு திரும்பினோம்.

26.10.2010 அன்று படம்பிடித்த கட்டிடப் பணி காட்சிகள் பின்வருமாறு:-

உள்ளூர் மக்களுக்கே இடம் இல்லாத நிலையில், வெளியூர்களிலிருந்து அளவுக்கதிகமான மக்களை குடியமர்த்தும் வகையில் இக்குடியிருப்புகள் கட்டப்பட்டு வருவதாகவும், நகரில் பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ள இந்த குடியிருப்பு கட்டிடப் பணிகளை உடனடியாக நிறுத்தி, புதிய குடியிருப்புகளைத் தவிர்க்குமாறும் கோரி, நகர மக்களைத் திரட்டி, வரும் 04.01.2011 அன்று மாலை 04.00 மணி முதல் 06.00 மணி வரை காயல்பட்டினம் பிரதான வீதியில் முழு அடைப்பும், கண்டன ஆர்ப்பாட்டமும் நடத்தப் போவதாக காயல்பட்டினம் முஸ்லிம் ஐக்கியப் பேரவை சார்பில் பொதுமக்களுக்கு பிரசுரங்கள் மூலம் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதோடு, இன்று நகரின் இரண்டு ஜும்ஆ பள்ளிகளிலும் இதுகுறித்து அறிவிப்பு செய்யப்பட்டது.

This project is either a conspiracy by the government officials to out number Kayalites in Kayalpatnam or an evil design by politicians to garner votes from Non-Kayalites (as they are already assured of Kayalpatnam votes)

This project should be stopped at any cost. If we fail to act, we will not only be outnumbered in our home town but also lose our identity and culture. Politicians and political parties who support this project should identified and be given a fitting reply by defeating them in on coming election or boycotting it. Local politicians should keep their party interest aside and work with people to defeat this evil project.

Gents,

Whilst coming against such influx by outsiders into Kayal, I wonder what about we Kayalites amazing wealth, properties in our neighbourhoods like Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Chennai,etc. Is n't it a tresspass, given the argument we are putting in here. Are we in a staus quo,to the likes of Kashmir where the outsiders can not purchase a land. I am still keeping my fingers crossed as to what effect this will cause, as the town keeps growing with the world & who knows after a decade or so we will have a different scenario.

Guys, this is a growth,macro-economic situation which will happen in any country, land for that matter & I do not think there is a conspiracy behind it. And be informed that we can't really stop this per laws & I can't see any wrong on this & we have to live with this, untill we abide by the rule of the land.

This project has nothing to do with (natural) growth or Macro-economic situation. In fact nobody can stop anybody from buying land in our home town and settle here as we do not have special privilege like Kashmiris do.

Those who are supposed to own these houses did not buy the land and build the houses on their own. Government is imposing permanent settlement on us. Why government choose Kayalpatnam and make settlement for those unknown people by flouting the laws of the land.

This what Israeli government did to Palestine and Chinese government did to Tibet & East Turkmenistan (now known as Xinjiang). The result is Palestinians are outnumbered in their own land .Tibetans are outnumbered in Tibet and Uyghur people are outnumbered in Xinjiang.

We do not want to see that we are outnumbered in our home town. Certainly I don't.
